ABOUT ME

IMG_1093.jpg

My name is Jovina Herrera (NM LMT #8564, AZ LMT #23815). I received my

Bachelor of Science degree in Health Education and Promotion from the University of New Mexico. After working in the health and wellness industry in various capacities, I pursued a career in massage therapy in 2012.  I have worked in a multitude of atmospheres as a licensed massage therapist, to include but not limited to luxury

spas, gyms, chiropractic clinics, and my own private practice.  I also studied Ashiatsu

barefoot massage and offer that in my private practice.  In Japanese, Ashi means foot ; Atsu means pressure.  Deeper pressure is applied during massage treatment using gravity and broad strokes.

My background as a group fitness instructor and community health educator has provided me with a well-rounded knowledge of massage therapy. It has contributed to my specialty in working with athletes, professional athletes, rehab/ injury, and decreasing pain in clients.  I'm also passionate in helping WMMA (pro women combat sport athletes) in muscle recovery, these women work really hard !

I also use a wide variety of enhancements, including cupping, hot stones, heating,  and aromatherapy. I support elements of both Western and Eastern medicines to best address my clients’ holistic health. I also provide pregnancy and relaxation massages   for those looking to unwind and decompress.

When I am not massaging, I enjoy spending quality time with my daughter, making arts and crafts, taking photographs, listening to music, exercising, and learning new enjoyable things in my life.  I am a self taught macrame fiber artist, soap maker, and a candle maker.  I believe in therapeutic benefits of creative art.

I am passionate about helping others improve their quality of life through health education and massage therapy. My goal is not only to create positive change in people’s health, but also to educate and raise awareness about the importance of manual massage therapy.  It is also essential for optimal neuromuscular skeletal balance. I believe in the body’s power to heal itself naturally and massage therapy should be accessible to everyone.

Sincerely,

Jovina H.

Ashiatsu Barefoot Massage is a luxuriously deep and even-pressured massage that uses the therapist's body weight to press, sweep, and relax the tight muscles. The therapist's clean, soft feet provide a broad surface for deep, compressive, gliding strokes over the whole body. Imagine deep, broad, sustained pressure that isn't pokey and painful- that's Ashi. Clients say they can't even tell that the therapist is using her feet- you get the same silky smooth feel, but with deeper and more even pressure. This type of massage is especially effective for fit athletes with dense tight muscles & bodybuilders.  For clients who suffer from chronic back pain (doctors note needed for back pain) before we begin this treatment.  The supine position will focus on detailed gentle neck massage, and limbs using my arms/hands.

1 hour 15 minutes - $150
